From July 4 to 10, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Hackathon of Tsinghua Global Summer School (GSS 2022) - “A Healthy Planet for Sustainable Development” was successfully held. The summer school was divided into 11 hacks, with the School of Environment hosting the second hack (HACK 2), themed “Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development.” A total of 79 students from around the world formed 11 teams and gathered online to participate in the HACK 2, completing Tsinghua Summer School coursework and exchanging ideas with scholars from various fields both domestically and internationally.

During the seven-day summer school, students gained a deeper understanding of China, Tsinghua University, and the School of Environment through interdisciplinary learning in areas such as economics, social issues, healthcare, education, climate change, and health, as well as master lectures, thematic workshops, SDG Hackathon challenges, and diverse cultural experiences. They also enhanced their teamwork and innovation capabilities for sustainable development. This year marks the third year of Tsinghua University Global Summer School online. Over the past three years, more than 3,000 outstanding young students have participated in the program. Upholding the concept of openness and inclusiveness, Tsinghua Global Summer School has the aim of “independent learning, intelligent teaching, universal schooling, and high-quality educating”, committed to helping young talents worldwide gain a deeper understanding of the world and China in the post-COVID era, encouraging them to cooperate and innovate for achieving Sustainable Development Goals, and contribute to creating a better world.
