Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sent a letter of thanks to SOE a few days ago for the assistance from Prof. Zhang Xiaojian, who supported and lead the emergency response of the cadmium pollution incident in early 2012.
The gravest cadmium pollution incident to ever happen in Guangxi took place in the Yizhou zone of Longjiang River in mid-January 2012. Prof. Zhang, as the deputy chief of the group of experts, reached the scene at the very beginning and instructed the people on the proper treatment to take to guarantee the safety of the drinking water for people in Liuzhou. The water quality in Yizhou zone has now satisfied the standards and has no dangerous effects on lower reaches in the area of Liuzhou.
