On December 2, the opening ceremony of “The 1st Environmental Microbial Utilization and Safety Control Symposium was held in the School of Environment (SOE), Tsinghua University. Director of State Key Laboratory for Microbial Utilization for Environmental Protection and Safety Control (SKLMUEPSC) Prof. Hu Hongying delivered an opening speech on behalf of the State Key Laboratory. More than 110 experts and scholars from 33 domestic and foreign institutions including the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Science, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Nanjing University and Nanyang Technological University participated in the conference.
The conference lasted for 2 days and the participating experts and scholars discussed the topics covering the pollutant toxicity testing and risk assessment, contaminant biodegradation mechanism and regulation, environmental microbiology resource development and pollution control, hazardous environmental microbial control theory and technologies and so on. Director of Division of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection Yu Jun, Director of Office of Research Organization Management, Office of Scientific Research &Development, Tsinghua University Zhen Shuning, Dean of School of Environment (SOE) Yu Gang, Secretary of School of Life Sciences Committee of the CPC Prof. Chen Yinghua attended the conference.
