Visit TAM's virtual exhibitions on International Museum Day 2020

May 18th is International Museum Day. The Tsinghua Art Museum (TAM) has made it possible to visit the museum virtually and soak up artistic history from various fields in human civilization.

To ensure the public’s access to arts and to keep sharing knowledge, TAM has converted 57 of its exhibitions into digital forms and presents them to the public as a virtual, 3D museum tour, where audiences can have a realistic virtual visiting experience, from walking through the exhibition rooms, to zooming in closely to each piece of work.

There is the exhibition of “Documenta 2020: Windows in Pandemic”, which includes documentary images that focus on the role of windows – as different perspectives and as a metaphor for self-expression – during global lockdown.

Audiences can also enjoy an exhibition called “Auspicious Land: Tibetan Buddhist Painting and Sculpture”, which brings the audience Thangka masterpieces stemming from the 17th to 20th centuries.

The online exhibition also allows the museum to expand the number of exhibitions it can hold at a certain time.

At the online exhibition hall of TAM, audiences can not only immerse themselves in the art presented at TAM right now, but also explore the various exhibitions that have previously been held. From cultural artifacts of the successive Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties, to the Western paintings created by Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso, or the undergraduate work exhibition of Academy of Arts and Design.
