An online seminar on talent training for intelligent manufacturing opened on Sunday at Tsinghua University’s Fundamental Industry Training Center (iCenter) to celebrate the university’s 109th anniversary.
Scholars and experts from universities and enterprises around the world gave lectures and took part in discussions on how to train creative engineering professionals during the event, which was live streamed on the online platform Rain Classroom.
Guest speakers were from such institutions and organizations as the Chinese Academy of Engineering, UNESCO, Zhejiang University, Nanjing Normal University, Tianjin University of Technology and Education, and US-based consulting firm McKinsey.
More than 1,300 people, ranging from global university faculty and students to industry insiders, attended the online seminar.
Li Shuangshou, head of the iCenter, presided over the event.
As a platform of engineering practice teaching and the world’s largest university-based maker space, iCenter has developed a curriculum featuring engineering practice, innovation and entrepreneurship, and general education.
Joining hands with 10 other schools and departments, iCenter also offers artificial intelligence as a minor subject, which integrates competitions with courses and backs up the university’s commitment to engineering innovation.
