Tsinghua-Aarhus CTIC Workshop on Quantum Information Science Takes Place

The Tsinghua-Aarhus CTIC Workshop on Quantum Information Science recently took place at FIT Building, Tsinghua University. IIIS Dean, Workshop General Chair Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, Program Co-chairs Prof. Amy Yuexuan Wang and Prof. Ivan Bjerre Damgård addressed at the opening.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Yao welcomed all participants to the workshop which is part of the Tsinghua-Aarhus Center for the Theory of Interactive Computation joint activities. Prof. Wang said that Quantum Information Science is one of the greatest achievements of contemporary Science and the CTIC workshop would be a great opportunity to address on the frontiers of Quantum Information Science. Prof. Damgård also looked forward to talks by invited speakers.

Shortly following the opening, IIIS Assoc. Prof. Giulio Chiribella gave the first talk on Quantum Theory: The Pure and Reversible Theory of Information. During the four-day workshop, Prof. Artur Ekert, CQT Director talked about Secrecy, Free Will and Malicious Manipulators, Prof. Jianwei Pan shared his ideas on Scalable Quantum Information Processing, Prof. Yidong Huang from Tsinghua University presented Quantum Light Sources Based on Third-Order Nonlinear Waveguides: Combining Physics and Engineering and Assoc. Prof. Kihwan Kim introduced Trapped Ion Quantum Network at Tsinghua University.

Quantum Information is an emerging interdisciplinary area that provides completely new technologies for the post-Moore era. It has explored fundamentally new methods for the development of information science in the 21st century. The workshop has brought together researchers from different fields to give talks from the frontiers of quantum information science, and discuss recent advances in theoretical as well as practical aspects. The topics of the workshop include Quantum computation and quantum complexity, Quantum algorithms, Quantum communication, Implementation of quantum computation and network, Quantum simulations and quantum many body physics, Quantum cryptography and Quantum game theory.
