Tsinghua University’s design team from the Academy of Arts & Design won the 2009 Red Dot Design Concept Award on August 25 for their work “Day and Night Marks.” In all 206 designs selected from 2,733 submitted works from 56 countries won awards this year.
The Tsinghua design team was composed of four graduates: Yu Guangwen, Ding Meiyuan, Sun Xiaowen, and Du Renhua. The team designed a series of products, including slippers, glasses, and elastic strings, whose fluorescent properties made them easier to locate in the dark.
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest and most renowned international design competitions.
