A delegation organized by German Research Foundation (DFG) visited Tsinghua University on 13 November. Professor XIE Weihe, Vice-President of Tsinghua University, welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced Tsinghua’s development and its cooperation with German institutes. Professor HE Kebin, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, gave a presentation entitled “Tsinghua: A University Pursuing Excellence—Innovation, Cooperation and Contribution.”
The 14 delegation members included officers from DFG and Journalists from famous German television and newspapers. They showed great interests in Tsinghua’s operation and the measures taken on its way towards a world university, as well as the collaborations between Tsinghua and German institutions.
The visit trip follows by going on a fuel cell bus designed by Tsinghua’s Department of Automotive Engineering and visits to the IPv6 Lab of the Network Research Center and the Energy Efficiency Demo Building. In the IPv6 Lab located in the building of Future Information Technology, Professor LI Xing, Vice Director of Network Research Center, presented their projects on the next generation of Internet. While visiting the Energy Efficiency Demo Building, Professor JIANG Yi, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, let the visitors explore every floor and showed them how they reduce the building’s energy consumption.
Tsinghua has build cooperation relations with more than 20 Germany universities and institutes by now. Currently there are 68 German students studying at Tsinghua.
