Lu Qiang, Professor of Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected as a Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences recently.
Prof. Lu is IEEE Fellow, director of Academic Committee of the State Key Lab of Power Systems and director of Electrical Engineering Department of Academic Degree Committee of the State Council. He also acted as the chief scientist of one of National Key Basic Research Projects (called as “973” projects). He once presided over two important projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, on “Decentralized Nonlinear Control Theory and Application to Power Systems” and “Intelligent Control of Power Systems” and is the principal of “Nonlinear Robust Control of Power Systems” which is a Cross-discipline Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and “Application of Nonlinear Control to the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Station” which is a National Key Science and Technology Tackling Project.
The awards he obtained include: Natural Science Award of China, Award of National Excellent Science and Technology Book and National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and the special grade of National Award for Educational Research Work and so on.
Now he is responsible for seven projects including “Hybrid Control System of Northern Power System” and one of demonstration projects supported by the National Development and Reform Commission of People’s Republic of China.
