Liu Qi, committee member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the City Council of Beijing, Long Xinmin, Vice-secretary of the City Council, and Zhu Shanlu, member of the Standing Committee of the City Council and Secretary of the Education Committee, came to Tsinghua University to investigate the fundamental party-construction work on May 14.
Escorted by President Gu Binglin and Prof. Chen Xi, Secretary of the University Council, Liu visited the key laboratory of the Education Ministry of Organic Photoelectron and Molecular Engineering in the Chemistry Department, and Mr. Qiu Yong, director of this key lab, made a report on how to bring the party members’ leading function into the play of scientific research. Liu then investigated the party-construction work done by the Department of Electronics. Mr. Chen Xu, Secretary of the Electronics Department Council, Mr. Cao Zhizhang, supervisor of the students aimed for National Defence, and Miss Zhao Xiaolin, Monitor of the class of the National Defence, also made report to Liu on the first class of the National Defence in Tsinghua. Liu spoke highly of the party-construction work of Tsinghua and was satisfied with the class of the National Defence.
After that, Liu held a seminar with leaders of university councils from Tsinghua University, Peking University, the People University and Beijing Normal University, on the university party-construction.
