The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced on Decemeber 2nd that two Tsinghua faculty had been selected as new CAE members. Two days later, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) also announced two Tsinghua faculty had been selected as new CAS members.
The new CAE members are Professor Yue Guangxi from the Department of Thermal Engineering in the School of Mechnical Engineering and Professor Cheng Jing from the School of Medicine. The new CAS members are Professor Sui Senfang from the School of Life Sciences and Professor Wang Guangqian from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering.

The elections of new CAE members and new CAS members are both conducted biennially. In 2009, the CAE elected a total of 48 new members and the CAS elected a total of 35 new members.
Tsinghua has 35 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 34 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
In addition, three Tsinghua alumni were selected as members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and five alumni were selected as members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
