Professor Masatoshi Koshiba, the Nobel Prize Winner of 2002 in Physics, delivered a speech at Tsinghua May 22.
The speech, titled “The Birth of Neutrino Astrophysics” was given at the Reception Hall of the main building. After the speech, Prof. Koshiba answered questions raised by the seated students.
Tsinghua Vice President Hu Heping met and had a talk with Professor Koshiba. During their talk, the two exchanged ideas on the development of basic science in both Japan and China.
Prof. Koshiba was born in 1926. He got ph. D. at University of Rochester in 1955. Prof. Koshiba received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2002 for his pioneering contributions to astrophysics, in particular for the detection of cosmic neutrinos.
